** WATCH
Weekly Report 09-19-18 **
------------------------------------------------------------
To the WATCH Board, Judges, and Alternates:
Some theaters give WATCH judges additional materials about
the show with your tickets, and that is fine.
But there is no requirement that a theater give you anything besides a
ticket to the show and a program. (And
most theaters give companion tickets, but that is their choice, not a
requirement.) You should be filling out
the online ballot using only the program and not any materials you might
be given. Some theaters have their own
internal awards programs and need to provide their judges with additional
materials. Others have their audience
fill out ballots. And there may be press
at a performance who receive additional materials as well. So just because you see someone who might
look like a judge receive something, please do not assume you are required to
receive it as well.
And please remember that most box office staff are
volunteers and might not know the rules of WATCH. So if there is any confusion, just let it go,
thank them for their time and contact me to help clear it up. The same is true for all staff you encounter
at the theater. Remember, you are
representing WATCH and they know it, and the last thing we want to do is give
people a bad impression of WATCH and its judges.
*****************************************
NOTE: Balloting for a show closes 30 days after the
show closes. If you owe us a ballot,
please get it in as soon as possible.
Friendly Reminders:
1.
DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL. It’s very long, and the reply will include
the entire thing, clogging my inbox.
Please send a new email to adjudication@washingtontheater.org
2.
DO email me your reservation
dates. Really, I want to know!
3.
DO search this entire report for
your name, including in the “Closed” section to see if you owe any ballots.
4.
If you go see a show that you were
not assigned to see, please let me know in case we need an alternate. Try to keep the playbills for all shows you
see at WATCH company theaters, at least until you see that it has closed with
all ballots received. Similarly, if you
see a note that an alternate is needed and you are available to see that show,
please let me know.

Directions to performance space(s): From Points North - "How would you
get to Reagan National Airport?" That's the first question to answer. Once
you've gotten onto the GW Parkway and passed the airport on your left, continue
heading south. The Parkway becomes Washington Street as you enter the city of
Alexandria. Cross King Street and take the third left after King onto Wolfe
Street. You will find LTA on the right hand side of the street, at the corner
of Wolfe and St. Asaph streets.
From The Capital Beltway - take the exit for Route 1 North. As you exit on the ramp, you'll drive onto Route 1 and get in the right lane immediately. Take the first right, onto Franklin St. At the light, make a left onto Washington Street. Pass two lights and make a right onto Wolfe St. LTA is at the corner of Wolfe and St. Asaph streets.
Parking - Parking is on the street. Watch posted signs, as some have two hour parking limitations. The Capital One Bank on the corner of Wilkes and Washington streets lets our patrons park in their lot when the bank is closed. Please note The Capital One Bank has extended their hours to include evening and weekend hours. Please make sure not to use their parking lot when they are open.
There are several garages within walking distance - one is on Washington Street, near King, and there are several on Pitt, near King. Look for the "Public Parking" signs.
Handicapped parking is located on St. Asaph Street next to LTA's courtyard.
