** WATCH
Weekly Report 01-01-19 **
------------------------------------------------------------
To the WATCH Board, Judges, and Alternates:
Welcome to the 2019 WATCH year! Thank you all for agreeing to serve this
year. We could not do it without
you. My name is Kira Hogan, and I am
happy to be serving as your Adjudication Coordinator once again this year. Normally I send reports every Wednesday, but
I am sending this early this week since we have a show opening this
weekend.
This section at the top is where I post important
information. Please take the time
to read it. I won’t have something here
every week, and I try to keep it relatively short (despite what the below might
suggest). But if I do include something
here, it is because it is something important I think everyone needs to know.
Below is the basic information you need to know for judging
– essential for new judges, but it could not hurt for returning judges to read
as a refresher.
There are basically three steps to the judging process:
1.
Search the weekly report for your
name. If you see your name listed for a
show and have not yet made your reservation, do so and then send me an email with your reservation date. (This last step is the most overlooked step
in the process. I need to track every
judge who sees every show, and if I do not hear from you, I will send you
pestering emails.)
2.
See your show.
3.
After seeing the show, submit your
ballot (link is under “USEFUL LINKS” below and can also be accessed via the
WATCH website). The deadline for
submitting a ballot is 30 days after the show closes, and no ballot will be
accepted after this date. However, we
strongly recommend you get the ballot in within
10 days of viewing the show, while it is still fresh in your mind. (2 to 3 days is even better.) Once a ballot is submitted, our tabulator
will send a confirmation of receipt to you, your rep and me. Once I receive this receipt, I will remove
your name from the report. If you see
your name still listed as missing a ballot but have already submitted, it
probably means I did not receive the receipt, so let me know. Margaret, our tabulator, likes to receive
copies of the playbills for every show, so if you have the capability, you can
send her a copy of the playbill at watchtab@mac.com.
And that’s it in a nutshell.
Pretty easy, right?
I will send a report every Wednesday. However, if for some reason you do not
receive a report one week, there is a blog site where I post each week’s report
immediately after sending it out. This
link is also listed below, and I highly recommend you bookmark this site on
both your phone and computer so you can easily access it if you need to. These reports contain all the information you
need for each theater, so having the blog site bookmarked on your phone could
come in handy as you are on your way to the venue.
The “Just the Facts” document with every theater’s
information is also posted on the WATCH website. That link can be found below as well.
Please make sure you read this report every week. Schedules change and shift across the year,
so while the matrix can be used as a guideline, this report is the final word
on scheduling. So even if you don’t
think you have an assignment coming up, read the report anyway just in
case.
All new judges need to be trained before viewing their first
assignment. It is up to each rep to be
sure their judges are trained. Training
can be found on the WATCH website as well.
If you have any questions at any point, feel free to email
me at adjudication@washingtontheater.org.
And now on with the show …
*****************************************
NOTE: Balloting for a show closes 30 days after the
show closes. If you owe us a ballot,
please get it in as soon as possible.
Friendly Reminders:
1.
DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL. It’s very long, and the reply will include
the entire thing, clogging my inbox.
Please send a new email to adjudication@washingtontheater.org
2.
DO email me your reservation
dates. Really, I want to know!
3.
DO search this entire report for
your name, including in the “Closed” section to see if you owe any ballots.
4.
If you go see a show that you were
not assigned to see, please let me know in case we need an alternate. Try to keep the playbills for all shows you
see at WATCH company theaters, at least until you see that it has closed with
all ballots received. Similarly, if you
see a note that an alternate is needed and you are available to see that show,
please let me know.

Directions to performance space(s): From Points North - "How would you
get to Reagan National Airport?" That's the first question to answer. Once
you've gotten onto the GW Parkway and passed the airport on your left, continue
heading south. The Parkway becomes Washington Street as you enter the city of
Alexandria. Cross King Street and take the third left after King onto Wolfe
Street. You will find LTA on the right hand side of the street, at the corner
of Wolfe and St. Asaph streets.
From The Capital
Beltway - take the exit for Route 1 North. As you exit on the ramp, you'll
drive onto Route 1 and get in the right lane immediately. Take the first right,
onto Franklin St. At the light, make a left onto Washington Street. Pass two
lights and make a right onto Wolfe St. LTA is at the corner of Wolfe and St.
Asaph streets.
Parking - Parking
is on the street. Watch posted signs, as some areas have two hour parking
limitations and some require payment. The Capital One Bank on the corner of
Wilkes and Washington streets lets our patrons park in their lot when the bank
is closed. Please note The Capital One Bank has extended their hours to include
evening and weekend hours. Please make sure not to use their parking lot when
they are open.
There are several
garages within walking distance - one is on Washington Street, near King, and
there are several on Pitt, near King. Look for the "Public Parking"
signs.
One handicap
accessible parking space is located on St Asaph Street next to LTA’s courtyard.
